Bee & Free Tea!
Everyone knows that a nice cup of tea goes with sewing like, well tea and sewing! Those of you who came along in your hordes and filled up Whitewaters Cafe Deli for our first evening BeeEve, also know what a lovely venue it is for sewing.
Fabulous news for Bee Card Holders - new card perks! Whitewaters Cafe Deli has kindly offered our Bee Card holders a free hot beverage when they visit the cafe outside of the Bee Eve. Just show your Bee card from Monday next week (10th Feb) to receive your free hot drink of choice.
Take a friend and a bit of sewing or knitting and settle into one of their lovely oak benches and watch the world go by from the big windows.........you can even have your lunch if you get really settled in and the housework waiting at home doesn't appeal ( lovely quiche btw!) What could be nicer?!
Your card doesn't have to be full, but you can only use each card once and Whitewaters will add their little stamp to show its been redeemed.
Also just to remind everyone that the next BeeEve is on Feb 25th from 8pm - come nice and early to get a good seat - we are busy!
The next daytime Bee is on March 4th. Somehow I managed to leave March off some of the posters and flyers with the dates on but we will be there!!

Swoon-Along With Us This Spring
Happy New Year Bee-ers. We had a packed to the rafters January Sewing Bee meeting today at St Anne's in Wendover. Despite biblical torrents of rain, hail and thunder a record number of you ventured out to join us in the (rather too?) warm St Anne's Hall for a little zen corner of calm and lovely sewing after the hectic few weeks that Christmas inevitably brings.
Rather happily, by the time that the Bee was over, the sun had come out and was rather gloriously reminding us that spring is coming. And what is more springy than the thought of a new sewing project to mull over?
If you'd like to get your teeth into a new project and would like to do it with the help and support of friends, then our Swoon-Along is for you. We will be making a fun modern quilt top which uses big, bold blocks that finish at 24inches square. Make 4 for a throw or all 9 for an 80x80 inch kind size bed quilt.
This pattern is called Swoon and it is by Camille Roskelley. To join in you will need a copy of the pattern, which I will go through how to get hold of here in the UK at the Feb Bee.
This is a free project to get involved with, you will need your own copy of the pattern and to supply fabric. We will run through what you will need at the Feb Bee's and I will post online a copy of the handout for anyone who can't make it to the Bee. You'll then have a month to get organised and I will demo how to make the block in March. There is absolutely no timeline to this project. You can take all year or more to make the quilt. There's no deadlines, no rules, nothing. Just the opportunity to work on something along with others and enjoy the creative journey together! I hope you'll join up and Swoon-along with us! debs x
ps You don't need to do the project to visit the Bee - this is an optional extra for those who would like to join in! There will still be lots of other sewing, crochet, embroidery, lacemaking, knitting, felting and tapestries going on as usual ( and that lot was just today's talented bunch!!)

Festive Cheer
Oh we had such a nice time this month at the Bee. We had some lovely Christmas music, mince pies and there was much Christmas crafting going on. From festive table runners to fabric heart shaped baubles to a needle felted turkey ready to be taken off to Australia!
Now if that picture doesn't make you feel Christmassy I don't know what will!
Have a lovely holiday season everyone and I'll see you all refreshed and ready to craft in the New Year. We are straight out of the traps on Jan 7th at St Anne's at 9.30am then our first Evening Bee kicks off on the 21st of Jan at 8pm at Whitewaters Cafe Deli - looking forward to it already x
Rachels felting corner were hard at work on Christmas felted decorations
The Farmers Wife Class Table were very industrious. We welcomed new Bee members and had a very jolly time ( as usual too jolly for me to remember to take many pics i'm afraid!)
